Etihad Airways is a flag carrier airline of the UAE, with the head office in Khalifa City near Abu Dhabi International Airport. Airline founded by Royal (Amiri) Decree in July 2003 has developed into the fastest growing airlines in the history of commercial aviation. Initial flight was on 5/11/2003 to Al Ain. On 12/11/2003, Etihad had first commercial service to Beirut. In June 2004 the airline made aircraft order in the amount of 8 billion US$ for five Boeing 777-300ERs and 24 Airbus aircraft.

Today EA is the third largest in the Middle East, second largest in the UAE an one of only eleven airlines operating more than 1,000 flights per week to over 120 passenger and cargo destinations on all of six inhabited continents. EA aircraft fleet consists of 122 Airbus and Boeing as of July 2016, carrying over 14.8 million passengers. In addition to its services of passenger transportation, Etihad also operates as Etihad Holidays and Etihad Cargo.
